He alleges Andrew Cuomo lied to Congress under oath about pandemic nursing home policies.
On Monday, chair of the House Oversight Committee James Comer of Kentucky requested that the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigate former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for allegedly lying to the panel in 2020.
Chairman Comer stated, “Evidence and witness testimony gathered suggest Mr. Cuomo knowingly and willfully made false statements to the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic on numerous occasions about material aspects of New York’s COVID-19 nursing home disaster and the ensuing cover-up.“
He alleged that “Mr. Cuomo reviewed, edited, and even drafted portions of a purportedly independent and peer-reviewed New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Report“ which “low-balled nursing home fatalities and blamed nursing home staff for causing excess COVID-19 deaths.“
“Lying to Congress is a federal crime. Mr. Cuomo must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The House Oversight Committee is prepared to fully cooperate with the Justice Department’s investigation into Andrew Cuomo’s actions and ensure he’s held to account,” Congressman Comer wrote in his letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi.
